Daily Rewind: Scaramucci is out
Anthony Scaramucci was removed as White House communications director, just 10 days after getting the job. Here’s what we know:
- President Trump’s new Chief of Staff, John Kelly, wanted Scaramucci removed because he didn’t think he was disciplined enough for the role. White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said: “Mr. Scaramucci felt it was best to give Chief of Staff John Kelly a clean slate and the ability to build his own team.”
- Scaramucci’s departure comes just days after he went on an expletive-ridden tirade against two top White House officials while talking with a reporter.
- It’s the latest in a series of high-profile White House shakeups. Kelly was hired to replace Reince Priebus, who resigned at the end of last week. Today was Kelly’s first day on the job. Former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer resigned a week earlier when Scaramucci was hired. Spicer was replaced by Sanders.
