What to look for in Apple’s earnings
Apple’s third-quarter earnings are out after Tuesday’s closing bell.
Here’s what to expect:
iPhone: Apple’s signature product has stalled. Investors hope the iPhone 7’s early success continued last quarter, even as many people begin to hold out for the iPhone 8 (or whatever it will be called).
iPad: Tablet sales just aren’t what they used to be. The iPad is still a significant source of Apple’s revenue, but it’s tapering off.
Sales & Profit: Soft sales won’t hurt Apple. Revenue is projected to be $44.9 billion — a slight increase compared to the same quarter last year. Apple’s sales fell in 2016, but the iPhone could manage to turn that around this year.
Eye on China: Apple is eyeing the world’s biggest smartphone market for growth. But its revenues have sagged in China over the past year-and-a-half. Apple hopes that by adding a new company leader there and pleasing the government, it can achieve higher growth.
