A College Student’s Guide to Easy Meals

As soon as you step out on your own and cook for yourself for the first time, you realize that instant ramen will not do. You’ve reached the right place if you’re a college student looking for a bit of cooking inspiration! Having a love for cooking in college is a stepping stone to a lifetime of preparing healthy food yourself. Listed below are a few recipes you can whip up quickly without any fancy equipment or ingredients.

Breakfast

Bread and Omelette

The most accessible breakfast to prepare is bread and omelette. It doesn’t require much of your time and makes you feel full.

Ingredients:-

  • Two eggs (or one egg)
  • Turmeric Powder
  • Chilli Powder
  • Salt
  • Bread
  • Oil

Method:-

  • In a bowl, whisk the eggs for a few seconds.
  • Add a teaspoon of chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt.
  • Take the pan and heat it with some oil
  • The oil should only be medium hot.
  • Pour the mixture into the pan.
  • Flip it to the bottom side
  • Put it between the bread slices and enjoy

Tip: If you like your bread to be crunchy, put a little butter in the pan and flip the bread. It will be crunchy and fantastic to eat with an omelette.

Bread and Nutella (With Fruits)

You’ll need 5 minutes for this breakfast plus a little more time if you want to include fruits. Don’t miss out on this tasty and nutritious breakfast.

Ingredients:-

  • Slices of Bread
  • Nutella Jar

Method:-

  • Take some bread
  • Once the Nutella melts, spread it over the bread
  • Cut some strawberries or banana or blueberries
  • Serve the french toast with fruits

Tip:- Spread a little butter on the bread and roast it.

French Toast

Breakfast takes about 5 minutes, but if you want to include fruits, you’ll need a little more time. It is both tasty and nutritious.

Ingredients:-

  • Slices of Bread
  • Eggs
  • Sugar
  • Oil

Method:-

  • Take some bread and cut it into pieces.
  • Take two eggs in a bowl and whisk them together
  • Add some sugar to the bowl.
  • Pour oil into the pan and let it become medium heated.
  • Dip the bread in the batter and put it in the pan.
  • Make sure both sides cook correctly.
  • Serve them.

Omelette Dosa

The Omelette Dosa is a quick and easy way to prepare a nutritious and healthy breakfast. The Sambar is not necessary for this type of breakfast since it is already filling.

Ingredients:-

  • Dosa Batter (Ready-Made or Home Made)
  • Oil
  • Eggs (As per the dosa that will be served)

Method:-

  • Make sure the oil batter is ready
  • Spread oil on a pan until it’s heated.
  • Take the batter and spread it on the pan
  • Crack open an egg on top of the dosa
  • Flip it and let the egg side be on the bottom for just a minute.
  • Take it out of the pan and serve it on a plate.

Pillsbury Pancakes

Nothing can beat pancakes for breakfast. Especially a pancake cooked with egg batter.

Ingredients:-

  • Pancake Batter (Ready-Made or Home Made)
  • Oil
  • Sugar (Depending on how an individual will eat the dosa)

Method:-

  • Put the powder in a bowl and mix milk in it until it becomes a batter.
  • Spread oil on a pan until it’s heated
  • Pour the batter into the pan in a circular shape.
  • After it appears to have cooked and bubbles appear on the surface.
  • Flip it over
  • Serve it with Nutella.

Lunch and Dinner

Pasta

Do we need to say more? Ahh.. it’s pasta.

Ingredients :

  • Pasta
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Capsicum
  • Carrot
  • Tomato
  • Main Masalas [Turmeric, Chilli, Coriander]
  • Pasta Masala by Smith and Jones [Optional]
  • Soya Sauce [Optional]
  • Green Chili Sauce [Optional]
  • Red Chili Sauce [Optional]

Method :

  • Boil the pasta in hot water. Add a little salt too.
  • Cut the capsicum, carrot, onion and tomato.
  • Put in oil and onion until golden brown.
  • Then put in the tomato and let it be mushy and soft.
  • After that, proceed to combine capsicum, carrot and all the masalas.
  • Put the John Smith pasta masala.
  • Let it cook nicely, and don’t forget to add some soy sauce and green chilli sauce.
  • Add tomato sauce.
  • After around 7 minutes, add pasta.
  • Mix it and let it mix nicely for a good 10–15 minutes
  • Add anything extra according to necessity.
  • Serve on Plate

LadiesFinger Curry

This might sound like a bad combination, but it is one of the most delicate things you can taste. Home-cooked curry with Bhindi is a chef’s kiss.

Ingredients :

  • LadiesFinger
  • Onion
  • Tomato
  • Salt
  • Powders
  • Oil
  • Ginger garlic paste

Method :

  • Add one to two teaspoons oil in a pan
  • Heat some already cut ladies fingers
  • It should take at least 10 minutes for the stickiness to disappear.
  • Once that is done, take the vessel in which you will cook.
  • Add a teaspoon of oil and put in thinly chopped onions.
  • Let them become golden brown.
  • After that, add tomato
  • Proceed to add ginger garlic paste and all powders.
  • Let them cook for 10–15 minutes.
  • After that, put the okra that has been kept away.
  • Put powders according to necessity after this.
  • Let them cook until they boil and serve.

Egg Masala

This egg curry has a wealth of health benefits thanks to its primary ingredient — eggs. Thus, making it a top recipe even when you don’t have much time to cook.

Ingredients

  • Egg (At least 4)
  • Salt
  • Powders [Turmeric, Chili, Coriander, Pepper]
  • Onion
  • Tomato
  • Ladies Finger

Method ;

  • Boil eggs first.
  • First, take two onions and make a paste.
  • Take a tomato and make a paste of that too.
  • After that take, the bay leaves cumin seeds and let the sizzling sound come
  • Once that sound comes, add onion paste.
  • Let it become goldish brown.
  • Add ginger-garlic paste and let it be for 2–3 minutes.
  • Add tomato paste and let it mix nicely until the gravy becomes a little dry.
  • Once it starts becoming dry, add all the powders you want.
  • Let it mix for a while
  • After this, add one and a half cups of water and let it be.
  • Then take the boiled eggs and put them in the bowl. Mix it and let them sit.
  • Switch off the gas after five mins

Dry Masala Cabbage

Yes! Just cabbage. Okay, hear us out first. This instant food will satisfy all your taste bud cravings.

Ingredients

  • Cabbage
  • Salt
  • Ginger Garlic Paste
  • Onion
  • Tomato
  • Masala Powders [Turmeric, Chili, Coriander, Pepper & Garam Masala]

Method :

  • Cut the cabbage and onion and tomato
  • Take a pan and add a little bit of oil.
  • Add spices if you want.
  • Add the chopped onions and let them become golden brown.
  • Once the mixture is brown, add a spoon of ginger garlic paste and let it mix (optional)
  • Put in tomatoes and let them cook nicely.
  • Sprinkle some masala and then add cabbage.
  • Add salt according to your own taste to the pot.
  • Check if you need more masala.
  • Let the cabbage cook for some time.
  • Serve on Plate
