So you’re thinking of moving to a new city, huh? Or maybe you are in the middle of moving. You must be here to try and remind yourself one last time that moving is going to be good for you! You shouldn’t be afraid.

Whatever the reason, since you are here already. It would only be right for us to give you our top 5 reasons why moving to a new city is one of the best decisions you could make!

5 Reasons Why You Should Be Moving to a New City

If you resonate with these reasons you should move today!

Find Your Tribe

Think to yourself, “Did I ever really belong here?”. The answer might surprise you. Forming bonds with people you have lived near for a long time is natural, but it isn’t necessary that these relationships were actually the best for you.

Moving to a new city can help you engage with new people with varied interests and grow with them as a person. Some of you also might think that you don’t need to make good friends stay fulfilled but trust me, to some extent, we all need people we can rely on. After all, Maslow’s Hierarchy Of Needs (the pyramid that shows our basic needs as humans) doesn’t put the category of “Love and Belonging” just after air, food, and safety for no reason at all am I, right?

Comfort Zone Who?

You know what they say, all good things come when you are not in your comfort zone (okay no one says that, I just made it up but you get the point).

Moving to a new city will help you get out of your comfort zone. Suddenly, you are in an unfamiliar environment where you don’t know anyone or anything. Your routine is in ruins, and forget that oh-so-warm feeling of safety. This stuff is going to make you U N C O M F O R T A B L E but guess what? That is okay. This gives you an opportunity to learn how resilient you are. Next thing you know, you are doing daring things like speaking to the person on the street you thought was good looking or, Woah, riding a cycle to work!

Find That Spark Again

I remember when I moved from the city I had been living in for 12 years to another city far away, I was scared. What I did not realize though was that although I felt at home in my birth city. I also had a feeling of being stuck. I wasn’t enjoying things like I used to and was only going through the motions.

Moving to a new city will help you find the excitement you probably lost over the years again. That exciting feeling while getting ready for your first day of work. The joy you feel when you discover a new place, the special culture, and the language. You get to experience all of that and much more. You learn to appreciate the small and big things in life.

Nobody Is Perfect

As cliché as it sounds, it is true that nobody is perfect. I am not perfect, you aren’t perfect and Harry Styles isn’t perfect (I know what you’re thinking but it’s true). We as humans were made to make mistakes but also learn from them. When moving to a new city, you will make a million mistakes but that is okay!

If you find yourself looking around like a lost puppy, boarding the wrong train, or eating a new food item the wrong way, you don’t have to feel ashamed. No one is judging you. It’s okay to not get things right on the first try. You will adapt as time goes by. Sure your ego might hurt a little, but hey, if anything, you can use these experiences as funny stories to tell when talking to that cute stranger in the street (*wink wink*).

We All Need A Break Sometimes

Everyone has different reasons for moving to a new city. Some might move for a new job, school, due to family, etc. However, what if you were moving there for no one but yourself? There is nothing wrong with that. We all have things we get tired of and things we want to escape, and for some of us, a fresh start is what we need.

Moving to a new city is going to help you refocus and reflect. Meditate and journal to get your thoughts in place. Start exercising to release all that built-up tension. Do not isolate yourself, but remember when to slow down. This is the time you can think about what you want and take steps to change your life for the better.

So should you move to a new city then?

Whether you’re moving to a new city to run from or towards something is your choice. I can’t tell you if that is good for you or not. What I can tell you is that it is most likely to turn out to be one of the best choices you ever made.

So pack your bags and get ready because this can be the opportunity of a lifetime for you. Don’t let your fears stop you from going for something you want, and maybe also need.
