Today is all about CHUNKING!

What comes to your mind when you read the word chunking?

Chunking is a strategy we employ to get from Ideas to Impactful Action. It involves looking at two areas: what are the crucial elements of a specific idea/project and what are the details involved to drive traction to that idea?

In our book The 90 Day Action Planner, we created a simple mindmap that helps to flesh out an idea. It helps to create a fuller picture of what this project is about before diving in into its parts.

Here are some basic questions to ask before breaking down an idea into actionable steps.

This idea is exciting because…

My goal for this project is…

This project will bring me…

These people can support me…

The resources I will need are…

The challenges I will need to overcome are…

You can add more questions if you like but these are what we use at Co.LAB as essential questions in aligning yourself and your resources to an idea.

Now that is done. The next step is to chunk your project into actionable steps. Break down the project into small visible steps to make your idea/project less daunting. Don’t forget to:

  1. Specify who can support you in those steps,
  2. what do you need in terms of resources,
  3. how much energy it will take to complete it and lastly
  4. put a deadline as to when these activities will be done.
