Welcome to The Journey of My First Book, a series of stories documenting the publication process of my first book.4 August 2022
Morning. Today I plan to make a start on a super important part of the book, if not the most important — the aspect of it that makes it unique, its USP. I am a little nervous about it, but also very excited. I built the book around this concept and now I have to convey it in a way that is easy to understand, but not simplify it so much that it seems insignificant.
I’ll also have to share some calculations and I’m not entirely sure how to present them. But perhaps I’m thinking too much into it and the presentation side should be dealt with at the editing stage. For now, what I need to do is get the essence onto paper. It took hours to create the tool I’m using to perform automatic calculations, I hope it doesn’t take much longer to explain how the logic works.
Then there’s the issue of how it will be received. I made some assumptions with these formulae, as you do when you’re creating a tool that covers so many scenarios and circumstances.
