Welcome to The Journey of My First Book, a series of stories documenting the publication process of my first book.

11 August 2022

Morning. Another heat wave is predicted in the UK and I can already feel the extra few degrees, even before 8.00 am. If the temperature in my office becomes too much, I might temporarily move downstairs and work from there.

As much as I prefer a warm climate to a cold one, I can’t function well in extremes…and today the temperature is predicted to rise up to 33 degrees 🥵. I’d better take advantage of the cooler morning, as I suspect I’ll be doing most of my productive work in the first part of the day before it gets too hot.

In terms of writing, I will continue with the same chapter I was working on yesterday. It’s a smaller one, so my aim is to finish it (or bring it very close to being finished) today and tomorrow. After that, I will be moving on to a chapter that requires a lot of research and therefore more time.

I’m not inspired to write any more thoughts this morning, so I’ll jump straight into the writing.

Evening. Well, what do you know? I’ve written 2,412 words today and the book is now 58% complete. Yay 🎉!
