Welcome to The Journey of My First Book, a series of stories documenting the publication process of my first book.

16 August 2022

Morning. I start the week with both good and bad news. The latter is that I did indeed have C@VID, which explains why I wasn’t feeling well last week. It only showed positive on the third test, but on closer inspection of the second one, I could see a faint second red line if moving the test in a particular light. Anyway, the good news is that it was a mild form and I have now 95% recovered from it.

I didn’t have the disposition to read or research this weekend (as I usually do) and so coming back to writing after a 3-day break seems unusual, alien even. It doesn’t help that I also look like an alien with my light therapy mask on (see featured image), but I wanted to give my face some TLC as it felt very dehydrated. Especially the area around my nose, which was dry and cracked from all the nose blowing I performed at the weekend.

Moving on from TMI, I really hope that alien feeling changes once I open up the manuscript. I’ll be working on the second part of the book today, including research and writing. Not sure how the day will unfold, as it’s…
