Alas! The time has come! All is lost! Despair, Despair, Ok, not really. But boy are we sad to see our Dlab interns from KNUST and Ashesi go. Forba,Benedict, Harriet, Anthony, and Team lead, Henry Olletey were majorly responsible for Cobalt User Research and Design-required projects. In between stand-ups, meet-ups,mood boards and field research, the versatile team sure brought some life and invaluable insight to project analysis into the team. So after two months of extensive and impactful work organisational structure and proof-based research on business modules for our cherished clients, we wanted the squad to share their experience of the Cobalt work culture. Here’s what they had to say:
“Working with Cobalt has been great. The working environment has been very flexible with a lot of attention given to planning daily activities. Working with the design team has helped me have an experience of how design thinking skills learnt in school can be used in solving real life projects for businesses. Working in the d-lab has been great especially with team members and supervisors who are always available to answer my questions and provide assistance. D lab has been great especially with the hands on projects filled with field research that makes working less routine. Great lesson I have learnt is that processes matter. Design never happens in a vacuum even if the users of the product or service are not your direct clients, you must design with them in mind; which makes testing user experience and field research vital parts of any design process. With regards to work life, my best lesson is that always be ready to learn, you never know too much and it's okay to ask for help. Cobalt has been amazing.” Harriet.
“Interning at Cobalt Partners this summer has been quite an experience. It wasn’t always easy and I must confess at times looking at how early I had to wake up among other things made me think of quitting. However the invaluable experiences I had with my teammates, the laughs, arguments and conversation mixed with genuine learning experiences made every single day worth it. Cobalt has been a really welcoming place, everyone even those outside my immediate team were always so nice and open to conversation. I greatly enjoyed my time here.” Benedict.
“My primary goal for accepting the design and research internship was to gain experience working on real world projects for clients while putting the knowledge I have acquired in design class to work. By working on both in house and external projects, I have not only acquired knowledge from the team, I have also had an opportunity to make a contribution to the cause. One thing that stands out for me is the effort Cobalt puts into keeping everyone on track using tools such as Asana and ensuring that we get things done. That is something that will be of immerse benefit to me later on. I really appreciate the opportunity to work with such amazing people and until we meet again, It’s goodbye” Anthony.
“My primary expectation when I accepted the design and research internship was to get a real world experience working for clients by applying the design knowledge I picked up in school.” Forba.
It’s not enough to say a big thank you to the Dlab. Their youthfulness, creativity and meticulous approach to research and analysis is just a glimpse of great things to come and we were most grateful to be a part of that journey. The Cobalt team will sorely miss the Design Lab. All the best guys!
