The employees and management of Cobot have reached an agreement and will strike on 20 September 2019. We (the employees of Cobot) have outlined our public position below:

On 20 September 2019 we will go on strike as part of a global campaign for action on climate change to send the message that business as usual is no longer acceptable.

Our action is part of a global movement, known as The Global Climate Strike and the main aims are to force governments to declare a climate emergency; inform the public about the seriousness of the situation; and improve decision-making around environmental issues.

We want Cobot to be vocal about these issues. We want everyone in the wider community, as well as the coworking community, to address climate change as what it is: a crisis and the biggest threat to our generation and generations to follow. We want to use our positions and resources to push this message to a wider audience and to encourage others to join in the call for climate action.

We will be calling on the governments and businesses to declare a climate emergency and take active steps to tackle the problem. We want our representatives to take these concerns seriously and demand they make dramatic changes to our fossil-fuel-based infrastructure; the current system is inadequate to address the problems of runaway environmental collapse.

We can already see the impacts of a warming planet like flooding, heat waves, coastal erosion, and mass wildlife extinction affecting communities around the world. This is just the beginning. Without immediate and decisive action, we run the serious risk of rendering our planet unsuitable for human life.

Going on strike alongside students, scientists, workers, and unions is essential to fulfiling our part in the global struggle to demand greater environmental accountability.

Yours sincerely,

The workers of Cobot
