Lipstick and Powder used to be my personal home for the lessons I’d learned while growing up.

Teenage challenges yesterday & today

My partner suggested that stories by women about their teenage years could benefit today’s youngsters. Initially, I was sceptical. After all — things are different now — when I was a kid, we didn’t have mobile phones or the internet.

However, once I began writing my tales — covering topics like bullying, consent, money, family, and body image — I realised despite some societal ‘advances’, these issues still resonate with girls today.

As I wrote, I reflected upon my past experiences and explored their current relevance. The connections became clear, illustrating how sharing our school days can support and empower young women now. Reading about others who have navigated similar challenges can help individuals to feel stronger and more capable of coping with their own problems.

I have filled the magazine with articles, tackling topics that some might find difficult to write…
