30 popular tech companies to work for in The Netherlands

Startups, Scaleups, Agencies and other tech companies; all of them are craving for the best talent to fuel their growth. In order attract the best, tech companies are doing everything they can. Some are able to actually compete with large corporates in terms of salary, while others try to steal people with a nice office, Friday beers or the occasional Foosball Table. But, what’s really attracting talent and which companies are doing it properly?

We have done a deep dive into our Cocoon data this week and have checked how tech talent is judging the almost 400 companies that are in our database. The final list is compiled based on 600,000 likes or dislikes on Cocoon.

1. WeTransfer

One of the Dutch globally known startups appears to be very attractive for talent as well. A design driven company, backed by investors and an established brand; what’s not to love?! This “Funky Dutch Cousin of Dropbox” unfortunately does not need a super huge team, so check out their jobs frequently and grab them while they’re hot!

2. Office App

This prop-tech startup located at Rockstart in the center of Amsterdam is one of the real surprises in this list. They have been part of a London Accelerator this year and are ready to scale now. Only thing they need to conquer the world is sales, PR, design and tech talent.

3. Netflix

The company culture at Netflix is well known for it’s freedom. They are only hiring “superstars”, as they are calling it. Apparently, this is not holding the Dutch locals back, as they are liking their jobs like there is no tomorrow! Most Amsterdam based jobs are Marketing and Operations related though.

The Popularity Score of the top 30 companies in Cocoon. The results are the actual percentages of 600,000 likes and dislikes for all companies. The higher the score, the more often a job-seekers likes the jobs of the related company. The average Popularity Score is 13,89%, so there are more companies next to the mentioned 30 that are doing very well.

4. Revue

A real Dutch superstar to be! Together with the popularity growth of their product and the huge reach their clients are giving Revue by spreading newsletters, comes an attractive employer brand. The Revue team is still rather small, but getting in now might give you a hell of a ride!

5. Bunq

Who says working at a bank is boring? This crazy bunch of talented people are challenge the world of finance. They appear to be very popular for both junior and more senior people in all fields. Their successful marketing campaigns are not just bringing in new clients, but are definitely also strengthening their employer brand.

6. Bomberbot

The “most innovative startup of 2015” according to StartupDelta is aiming for the future by making learning to code fun for young kids. Although their team is still small, talented people are lining up to start working at this Rockstart alumni.

7. TRVL

Working at a travel startup! Who does not want to be surrounded by beautiful photo’s all the time? One of the founders sold his previous company to Apple and they already got a serious investment last year. So where’s the catch? Well, they are currently only hiring developers so you’ll have to be patient if you other gifts…

So it is possible to compete with the startup culture as an agency! Label A is getting serious traction from Dutch Tech Talent. They are able to keep the startup vibe as they are part of the same family as the very successful scale-up Bynder.

9. Coolblue

Is Coolblue a real tech company? Who cares?! They are hiring 1500 people this year alone and lots of them are developers and online marketeers so we love them! Coolblue has established a great employer brand and they are training many graduates to become online superstars, which is great for the Dutch eco-system as well.

10. Appical

The Appical team is helping their clients to onboard new employees properly, so you can expect to get the best possible onboarding as a new hire when you join them! We have heard they are moving to a stunning new office at the NDSM wharf in Amsterdam very soon. Their former classic startup garage is not enough to facilitate the team growth. We believe this will even increase their popularity on our Index soon.

11. Rockstart

Rockstart used to hire mostly interns from all over the world, but is now also looking for senior people. When stepping into their stunning canal house for your interview, you could feel the amazing startup vibe.

12. Wakoopa

One of Amsterdam’s early startup sweethearts, founded by Wouter Broekhof and Robert Gaal in 2007, this company is nowadays part of GfK. We see especially senior people have a lot of interest in Wakoopa now.

13. Fitmo

Working at Fitmo means you can both work on a cool mobile product, but you’re also influencing their user’s health by connecting them to real-life personal trainers. Add up the cool co-working space TSO they are located at and you have a great cocktail for an attractive employer brand.

Wow! What an amazing office they have. As an employee at Crobox you’re be sharing your lunch with people working at Fairphone. Pretty cool, right?

15. Harver

“A resume is only useful as toilet paper.” Well, we can only love Harver for this. They have cool clients like Zappos and Booking.com and have opened a new office in New York last summer. We could see why people are so interested to work at Harver.

16. Cocoon

Does this actually need any explanation? Of course people are lining up to work with us!

17. SURFsara

SURF might be a more traditional ICT company, they still are very popular and they are looking for many people to join their office next at Amsterdam Science Park.

18. Datlinq

Working with clients as Bavaria and Red Bull in an established tech company that’s helping companies in more than 14 countries to optimise their sales and marketing efforts backed by data. Sounds boring? Hell no! Data masterminds are highly interested to work at Datlinq.

19. Insided

This Amsterdam startup bootstrapped the company until they needed an investment to actually scale internationally last year. They have been hiring tens of people last months and are opening an office in NYC now. We also love their huge Amsterdam office at the canals!

20. Hippo (BloomReach)

Hippo has carefully built its company culture over the years and they are capable of really taking care of its people, both in terms of salary and in more lifestyle related matters.

21. Unified Streaming

Small in team size, but large in global impact. Unified Streaming has a beautiful office near the Amsterdam Vondelpark. People who are applying at them get to work with experienced developers and sales people.

22. Presspage

Presspage is one the more popular PR related platforms for Dutch talent and they are currently hiring people in marketing, sales and engineering.

23. Link-busters

This anti-piracy company has turned to Cocoon for their hiring in the early days to fuel their growth. We noticed they are not just very popular, but are also handling recruitment in a very personal way.

24. Cupenya

The diverse Cupenya team is located at Rockstart. As one of the more mature startups over there, they are also attractive for talented people in the Rockstart community who are looking for new challenges.

25. Rockboost

This Rotterdam based growth hacking agency is doing very well in terms of growth and talent acquisition. Are there any marketing people out there, who do not want to become growth hackers these days?

26. Wonderflow

These Italian founders surely know how to treat its employees. They recently raised a new funding round and are now ready to scale.

27. FindHotel

They have rebranded the company last year and are hiring many people in different fields. Their data driven performance marketing approach and superb engineering team are key ingredients for the company to grow and — potentially — for people to apply.

28. Publitas

Do you love to work with the brightest scientists and do you hate office politics? Apparently many people do! Publitas also understands being part of the local tech community is beneficial for their employer brand.

29. Ace & Tate

The amazing Ace & Tate office

Another amazing B2C brand on this list, Ace & Tate are not just looking for people to manage their stores, but they are also hunting for developers, designers and online marketeers to grow their online channels.

30. Blendle

Blendle has carefully build a very strong employer brand last years. They are having high standards in terms of accepting people though, so it won’t be easy to land yourself a job here. Go to their meetups to get on the radar!
