We are thrilled to announce that Simon Ostrovsky is Coda’s new Investigations Editor. Simon is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and investigative journalist best known for his coverage of the 2014 Crimea crisis and the war in eastern Ukraine for VICE News, for which he was awarded the prestigious duPont Award from Columbia University and was nominated for two Emmys.

His video series on the war went to 111 episodes covering two years of the conflict and showed he was willing to stay on the story. He comes to Coda from CNN’s flagship investigative unit where he worked throughout Donald Trump’s first year in office. Here is Simon’s latest piece for PBS Newshour about huge numbers of asylum seekers fleeing to Canada from the United States.

Simon will focus on building up Coda’s investigative unit.
