Is it time to change careers to work at your dream job?

Genta Shibasaki quit his job to change his career and is now working in his dream environment after graduating Code Chrysalis English Immersive Cohort 11. 💁‍♂️🎓🗼

What are you working in currently?
I will be starting work at CrowdCast.

What were you doing before you enrolled in Code Chrysalis?Previously I worked for Japanese maker as system engineer for 8 years and 3 months.

How did you find out about Code Chrysalis?
🧐I wanted to make a career change, but had no experience and upon randomly searching🔍, “coding bootcamp,” I found Code Chrysalis.

What made you decide to enroll in Code Chrysalis?
There are two things. First, I went to DemoDay and was impressed how in 3 months the students had learned so much. Second, the good employment results📈👍.

What was the Immersive course like?
In the beginning, the JavaScript was around intermediate level📑.At first I was a little nervous, but eventually the fun part overcame my nerves. When you code, it’s more fun to work with others than to work by yourself👩‍💻🖥👨‍💻.
Also, I was a little nervous about using English. My English wasn’t very good, but I had studied very hard in my previous company and wanted to use my English somewhere.

What was difficult about the course?
The English! Honestly speaking, I hadn’t studied enough English📝. It was hard to communicate efficiently and I felt bad about that. Currently I am now studying English vocabulary three hours, one hour of English conversation, and a minimum of four hours for TOEFL. As for the course itself, I was able to keep up with the lectures, and studied in my own time📚.

What was a surprisingly fun part of the course?
That I was able to meet so many people👩🧔🧓! In my previous company, I would have never had the chance to meet such a diverse group of people. It was an extremely rare and fun time for me🙂. Even when I was a student ten years ago, there weren’t too many foreign exchange students, so I wouldn’t even have had the same experience then as I did now. The relationships I made at Code Chrysalis is what I was looking for the most🤝.

How did you change after taking the course?
First of all, I have a better understanding of programming as a whole. I can study better and put in the effort to study hard, you can do it too💪! In terms of English, I feel less anxious to use it.

Do you have any advice for those who wish to join the course?
You aren’t by yourself, but as a team👩‍💻🧑‍💻👨‍💻. As a team there is an added value and meaning to be a part of a community that is made by you and your peers. Don’t be afraid to communicate in English. Speak up❗🗯Take this opportunity and have fun with it😊.

Thank you Genta! ✨We wish you all the luck in your new job and look forward to see where you are in the future. 🚀
