Moonhack 2022 is getting ready to launch and we are so excited for this year’s new projects!

Moonhack will run from October 10 to 23.

Code Club Australia’s annual, global, online coding challenge is set to launch in 2022 to coincide with World Space Week celebrations. This year we have made our challenge stretch across 2 weeks to ensure every club, school, library, work place and home has enough time to register and attempt at least one of our 6 brand new coding projects.

Since Moonhack started in 2016 there have been over 150 000 people who have taken part in this challenge. The projects have taken us to the Outback (2016) and the moon (2018), to driving on the surface of the moon (2019), and then to Earth and a sustainability focus (2020).

This year our focus has changed to satellites, both natural and man made, and the role that they play in our every day lives. Did you know that the use of satellites contribute to 63 of the 169 targets that make up the Sustainability Development Goals set by the UN?

On August 23rd we will open registrations for this year’s Moonhack and we will start releasing the projects so that clubs and classrooms around the world can make decisions about what projects they would like to use during the challenge weeks.

Along with the projects we will release extra resources and a blog post to share information behind the development of the project, how it fits into the Sustainability Development Goals and any tips and tricks for the project. We will also introduce you to our collaborative partners.

Until then, here are some things to get you ready for Moonhack 2022.

First, mark your calendars!

Your Moonhack challenge can occur any time between the 10th and 23rd of October, so make sure you mark your calendars and clear your schedule for maximum fun.

Second, subscribe to our Moonhack newsletter.

The newsletter is where we will keep you informed of project releases, important information, when you can register (opens August 23rd), shared resources such as posters, and links to blogs about the projects and YouTube tutorials to step you through some of the projects.

Prep your social channels

We will do a lot of our sharing via Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram so make sure you connect with us on your favourite platform. We also hope you will share your Moonhack preparations, events and posts with us using the hashtag #moonhack.

We can’t wait to see you all for Moonhack 2022!
