impactAFRICA webinar: measuring the impact of development projects

Code for Africa and the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) are partnering with the World Bank’s Strategic Impact Evaluation Fund (SIEF) to present monthly online webinars for those interested in applying to our impactAFRICA data-driven storytelling challenge.

impactAFRICA is the continent’s largest fund for data-driven storytelling. $500,000 is on offer in support for pioneering data journalism and innovative reporting that tackles development issues, such as public healthcare, in six African countries: Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania and Zambia.

impactAFRICA’s first webinar, Measuring Impact, will take place on Thursday, February 4 at 5pm SAST and focus on how journalists can use data to improve their judgements of the impact of development projects.

at 5pm SAST to join Thursday’s webinar.

How can journalists better report on poverty, health, education and more? They need to understand how experts measure the impact of development programmes.

The webinar, moderated by Christopher Conte, a former ICFJ Knight Fellow, will give participants an opportunity to have their questions answered by a World Bank expert, Dave Evans, Senior Economist in the Chief Economist’s Office for the Africa Region of the World Bank.

This webinar explores methods to measure impact and looks at tools and techniques that can improve reporting. The discussion will also focus on where to find data, what to look at and how to interpret it.
