The Intro

You can check on your index to see which ones need to be reindexed. Sometimes the cronjob isn’t running. This is a quick fix to get that cronjob up and running.

If you status area says “REINDEX REQUIRED” simply do this to remedy the situation.

The Steps

  1. Log into your server via SSH
  2. Go to the document root for your magento folder. Make sure you are logged in as someone who have permissions over that document root (like an admin user. Also if you are working in a multi-person team. Make sure you don’t make this cron under your name, but a user on the server that a team can use, like production@servername.com or whatever account you guys have set up on the box)
  3. Run this command:
Magento Commands.

4. If successful, you should receive a message similar to this:

Crontab has been generated and saved

That’s it, then go back to your Magento admin page and you will see your new index statuses.

Happy Coding.
