May the Code be with You: Motoko Bootcamp is back in May!
Following the impulse given by the edition earlier this year, we are not wasting time and we are already coming back in May ( 8th–14) (7 Days, Mon-Sun)) for an even better edition of the Motoko Bootcamp.
Motoko Bootcamp is a community event hosted by Code & State — a Web3 Venture Studio that is focused on making it easy to build and start your entrepreneurial journey on the Internet Computer. Motoko Bootcamp is also supported and granted by the DFINITY Foundation.

What is Motoko?
Motoko is a new language that was developed by DFINITY specifically for the Internet Computer (think of it like Solidity for Ethereum). It feels like JavaScript and is relatively easy to learn (especially if you already have experience with at least one programming language).
Adding Motoko to your toolbox will enable you to build the Web3 app of your dream:
- NFTs
- Tokens or DeFi application
- Decentralized social media
- DAO or DAO tooling
- And way more…
Motoko is a new language (it was born only 2 years ago) and Motoko developers are in high demand as the Internet Computer is flourishing.
My prediction? In the next few years, being proficient with Motoko will be one of the most valuable skills in the market.
What is Motoko Bootcamp?
The Bootcamp is an event that lasts for one week in which students will learn about the Internet Computer, how to build dApps using Motoko, and how to start their journey into web3.
During the week you’ll also have the opportunity to connect with other students and mentors from the community through various activities (networking sessions, games & mentorship sessions).

What are the goals of the week?
Let’s be honest: one week is a really short amount of time. Some people have been building on the Internet Computer for almost 2 years and they are still learning every day.
The goal of this Bootcamp is not to turn you into a master of everything related to Web3, Internet Computer & Motoko but it provides a way to accelerate your journey and is the best place to get started. You’ll learn enough so that you can confidently continue learning after the Bootcamp and start building your own projects.
One week is short but enough to change your life!
Who is this edition for?
We try to be as accessible as possible and all our explanations and technical materials are usually designed with simplicity and accessibility in mind. However, being a developer is not something that you can improvise in one week.
That’s why we recommend the Bootcamp to technical profiles that already have some coding experience — such as the following:
- CS-student / STEM student.
- Developer with professional experience.
- JavaScript / Python developers.
- Web3 developers.
- Self-learner confident with his coding abilities.
If you’re a beginner in coding but eager to learn, joining a Bootcamp can be a valuable experience. You’ll gain knowledge, even though the journey may be challenging.
Take inspiration from a Motoko Bootcamp 2022 student who had no prior coding experience but made the commitment to learn and study. They returned to the 2023 edition in January and successfully graduated from the program. Maybe you’ll be next!

Is it online or in person?
The Bootcamp is taking the online world by storm and will continue to be a virtual event, making it accessible for students everywhere! With the three platforms mentioned earlier, you’ll get access to all the content necessary for the week.

How much time will I need to allocate during the week?
For every edition — we usually have two types of participants:
- Full-time participants: they have taken one week off to focus on the Bootcamp.
- Part-time participants: they usually have a job or studies on the side.
Taking one week off is not easy but based on our learnings, the first category usually does way better! Sure, you can always follow at your own pace but if you are serious about the Bootcamp and really want to learn, connect with builders, complete challenges, and build a cool project all in one week you’ll need full attention!
What happens after Motoko Bootcamp? Can I find a job?
Upon successful completion, you will receive a soul-bound NFT diploma granting you lifetime access to the exclusive Motoko community and a multitude of associated exciting perks (DSCVR Portal, NFID credential, special role on Discord…).
