Although a bit late and behind everyone else, i have finally discovered a near perfect data set for my needs for astrophysics.

It was called the HYG data set. http://www.astronexus.com/hyg

A collection of datasets that include stars from Stellar distanced stars, to naked eyes stars and finally to stars that are within 75light years away.

  • I could compare my Absolute and visual magnitudes and plot them on a bar graph to show the shift in distance
  • Due to luminosity and absolute magnitude going hand to hand and also colour index goes hand to hand with temperature, i could plot Absolute magnitude with colour index to create a Hertzsprung Russell diagram
  • A Hertzsprung Russell(HR) diagram can imply the age of the galaxy, chemical composition, temperature burn and core fuel burn

I am also trying to use plotly to create my visual graphs better, however importing plotly seems to be quite difficult.
