20/03/17 — Individual testing

I wanted to see how well the site model would transfer through to Flux. It was a very easy process as Flux successfully received data keys from Grasshopper.

The model being transferred during these experiments was modelled using Rhino and represents our site and its surroundings.

The site is approximately 15000 x 37000

We are required to utilising an area of 10000 x 10000

The location: Science Lawn, UNSW

Rhino/Grasshopper > Flux

Linked the site model between Rhino/Grasshopper and Flux by creating individual keys for each component, i.e. the site boundary, buildings, walkways, green space.

Pros

  • Very easy to send to Flux using the script provided. Script found here.
  • Fairly quick data transfer based on internet connection

Cons

  • Due to a slower internet connection, the constant update was quite laggy. So setting the update on manual helped.
  • Not sure why, but my Rhino eventually crashed even though there wasn’t much geometry…
