So for the past few weeks our group has been keeping up well with progress, and due to recent issues from other groups, Dom and Nissie focused on helping the other groups develop the pavilion. Until recently we’ve decided to refine our experience a bit more and unite our individual work into one.

So far things that have been fully or highly developed:

  • Holograms: Models and particles are finished from prototypes weeks ago. Will need refining but the main attraction is ready.
  • Spatial Mapping: I’ve changed the placement method from coordinates to tap to place which allows a higher degree of freedom when placing holograms accurately. Tested with Dom’s prototype and placement seems to be working fine.
  • Storyline: Minor tweaks can be added later, but so far its ready.

Things that needs to be done:

  • Spatial sound: We’ve mentioned this in early presentations, since the Hololens FoV is narrow, having ambience and tapping sounds can help direct the user to points of interest in the rare chance that they get lost while in the pavilion. It also helps increase immersion as having a flashing head and brain can be quite confusing.
  • Holograms: We thought it might be a bit too abstract and confusing if the user lacks context, so we’ve decided to update the Holograms from orbs to something more obvious like a brain and human head.
  • Extra Holograms: Additional objects that can be pinned to the inner walls of the pavilion.
  • Spatial Mapping: Mapping itself and Hologram placement are done, but I would like to refine the script a little bit more and add quality of life improvements. (Such as reset buttons)
  • Voice overs: Since we’ve decided to do without text for the experience, explaining the concepts to the user can be difficult with just visuals. Instead we are going to record a voice over for this.
