There is one thing that sets the tech industry apart from all others, and that one thing is passion. We thrive on continual learning. We stay up to date on the latest innovations by joining groups and networking with other like-minded technologists. We are driven to be better. Not because we want to finish first — after all, this industry is all about collaboration — but because our drive to improve comes from passion. Simply put, we love what we do and what we do makes an impact on ourselves and on others.

You know that your work is impactful. But did you know that your passion for your work can also be impactful?

Imagine this:

You are leading a group of 4–6 high school students, none of whom have ever written a single line of code. And just like you, they want to make an impact in their communities. They have creative ideas, but they just don’t know how to express them yet. You introduce them to coding and then that one special “aha moment” happens. Their eyes widen and you see a spark. Before you know it, it’s lunch time but no one gets up from their seat because they are too absorbed in what they are doing. By the end of the day, the teenagers are exhausted. They are getting ready to go home, but they ask you one final question: Can I be a professional __________, like you?

Make an impact

Our volunteers are the centerpiece of CodeNow. Many of our students go on to major in computer science, digital design, and even game development. They attribute that decision to their volunteer trainer’s answer to the question above. After all, you told them that they can be anything that they want to be as long as they put their minds to it.

Feeling inspired yet? We have workshops coming up in Chicago, NYC, and San Francisco.

Share your love for coding, design, and entrepreneurship. Be a part of the CodeNow community and volunteer with us!
