Game Nights for a Good Cause

CoderDojoChi has been teaching children how to code for free since 2013 and we recently started organizing game nights to bring amazing people together and spread the word.

CoderDojoChi is not just a nonprofit: it is a community of people who grow closer during every event.

On June 1st, we had our second game night and it was a blast. Volunteers, friends, and people from the community joined us for a night of board games and to show support towards CoderDojoChi.

If you do not know us yet, our mission is to create a fun, collaborative environment to explore STEM. Through challenging play, youth can build memorable experiences with mentors. All proceeds from the game night went to this amazing cause.

Cards Against Humanity game about to begin!

We played Cards Against Humanity, Wits & Wagers, and Codenames. We also shared with each other what is going on in our lives and how why we are helping CoderDojoChi. CoderDojoChi is not just a nonprofit: it is a community of people who grow closer during every event. Teaching kids how to code opens up new doors and possibilities for them; the kids also learn how to think critically, a skill they will use in school and in the real world daily.

We had some amazing sponsors help put this event together. StickOutSocial, a web development shop in Chicago, provided us with a space to play games and pizzas. Robot City Workshop, a store and learning center for all things robots, provided us with a date night coupon for a class on building a robot. Cards Against Humanity, a board game company based in Chicago, provided us with one of their game sets. We are all dedicated to supporting CoderDojoChi, the space, raffle prizes, and pizza provided by our sponsors help our community connect and grow.

Our raffle winners!

Our next game night will be on the first Wednesday of July and we encourage all to bring their friends, family, and colleagues. We will also be holding a raffle where one dollar gets you a raffle ticket and there will be a whole lot of great prizes (including a Cards Against Humanity game set).

Come have fun for a wonderful cause!
