From Travel Rule to Stablecoins: CODE Successfully Hosts 2025 First Bi-annual meeting

CODE (codevasp), a Travel Rule solution provider, successfully held its 2025 First-Half Member Conference on June 20 at the Eliena Hotel in Seoul. Under the theme “Beyond Regulation, Towards Opportunity,”the event attracted over 120 participants from more than 70 domestic and international virtual asset service providers (VASPs) and financial institutions.

This year’s event gained attention for bridging the gap between industry and regulation, with CertiK (a leading blockchain security company), LSEG (a global financial data provider), and law firm Bae, Kim & Lee LLC (Taepyungyang) participating as official sponsors.

The conference opened with a welcome address by Lee Seong-mi, CEO of CODE, followed by congratulatory remarks from Keunseob Song, Korea representative of ACAMS. The agenda featured seven sessions covering a wide range of topics, including digital asset regulations and policy trends, market outlooks, technical risks, and compliance strategies.

In the first session, Attorney Hyo-bong Kim of Bae, Kim & Lee LLC presented on “Changes in Korea’s Virtual Asset Regulatory Landscape and Phase 2 Legislative Plans,” outlining expected policy shifts following the introduction of Korea’s Digital Asset Basic Act. Then, DAXA Executive Vice Chairman Jae-jin Kim discussed the challenges faced by Korea’s crypto infrastructure in the global ecosystem.

Security and technology also took center stage. Kang Li, CTO of CertiK, addressed security risks in virtual asset staking and evolving compliance policies, while Junyeol Heo, Manager at LSEG, highlighted the spread of global sanctions and the rise of emerging geopolitical risks impacting financial infrastructure.

In the afternoon, Yoon-taek Han, Head of Compliance at Bithumb, spoke on trends in AML supervision of virtual asset operators and strategies for response, while Tae-gon Kim, Director at KB Kookmin Bank, explored opportunities and risks for banks in light of corporate crypto trading permissions.

The final session was led by Byeong-yun Seo, research head of DSRV, who offered insights into the current state and future prospects of the global stablecoin ecosystem.

Closing the event, CEO Lee Seong-mi remarked:

“With the enactment of the Digital Asset Basic Act, Korea’s regulatory framework is becoming more robust, creating the foundation for diverse industries to enter the virtual asset space. This conference served as a meaningful opportunity to move beyond regulation and discuss collaboration and global expansion.”

The event concluded with a raffle offering prizes such as Apple Watches, AirPods, and Galaxy Watches, along with a networking session that was well received by attendees.

디지털자산 규제 변화·보안·AML 전략 등 7개 세션

“디지털자산 기본법 이후, 글로벌 확장과 협업 기반 확대 기대”… 업계·기관 120여 명 참석

가상자산 트래블룰 솔루션 기업 CODE(codevasp)가 6월 20일, 서울 엘리에나 호텔에서 ‘2025 상반기 회원사 간담회’를 성황리에 개최했다. 이번 간담회는 ‘Beyond Regulation, Towards Opportunity(규제를 넘어서, 기회로)’를 주제로, 국내외 가상자산사업자 및 금융기관 등 총 70여 개 기관, 120여 명이 참석했다.

CODE는 국내 주요 거래소인 빗썸, 코인원, 코빗이 공동 출자해 설립한 합작법인으로, 국내외 VASP(Virtual Asset Service Provider)를 대상으로 트래블룰 솔루션을 제공하고 있다. 트래블룰은 가상자산사업자가 100만 원 이상의 전송을 수행할 경우 송수신자 정보를 수집 및 전송해야 하는 국제 규제로, 가상자산 시장의 투명성과 건전성 확보를 위한 핵심 장치로 작용하고 있다.

이번 행사는 세계 최대 블록체인 보안업체 CertiK, 글로벌 금융시장 정보 기업 LSEG, 법무법인 태평양이 공식 후원사로 참여해 산업계와 규제기관의 접점을 연결하는 장으로 주목받았다.

행사는 CODE 이성미 대표의 환영사를 시작으로 ACAMS 한국대표 송근섭 회장의 축사로 문을 열었다. 이후 총 7개의 세션을 통해 국내외 디지털자산 규제와 정책, 시장 전망, 기술적 리스크와 대응 방안 등이 논의됐다.

첫 번째 세션에서는 김효봉 변호사(법무법인 태평양)가 ‘한국의 가상자산 규제환경 변화와 2단계 입법방향’을 발표하며, 디지털자산 기본법 발의 이후 예상되는 정책적 전환을 짚었다. 이어 김재진 상임부회장(DAXA)이 ‘글로벌 가상자산 생태계 속 한국 인프라의 도전 과제’를 주제로 발표했다.

보안 및 기술 관련 이슈도 주요 의제로 다뤄졌다. CertiK의 Kang Li CTO는 ‘가상자산 스테이킹의 보안 리스크 및 컴플라이언스 정책 개발 동향’을 주제로 글로벌 리스크 트렌드를 소개했고, LSEG의 허준열 매니저는 ‘글로벌 제재의 확산과 신흥 리스크’를 통해 금융 인프라에 미치는 지정학적 영향에 대해 설명했다.

오후 세션에서는 빗썸 한윤택 준법감시실장이 ‘가상자산사업자의 AML 감독 동향 및 대응 전략’을 발표했으며, KB국민은행 김태곤 부장이 ‘가상자산 법인거래 허용에 따른 은행의 기회와 위기’를 주제로 법인계좌 시장의 확장 기회를 짚었다. 마지막으로 DSRV 서병윤 소장이 ‘글로벌 스테이블코인 생태계의 현재와 미래’를 소개하며 행사를 마무리했다.

CODE 이성미 대표는 “디지털자산 기본법을 계기로 규제 프레임워크가 더욱 견고해지고, 다양한 산업이 가상자산 시장에 진입할 수 있는 토대가 마련되고 있다”며, “이번 간담회는 규제를 넘어, 업계 간 협업과 글로벌 확장을 논의하는 뜻깊은 자리였다”고 밝혔다.
