As a researcher that wants to stay updated on mapping and data visualization techniques, the best way to do this is to keep my R skills sharp and Python on the backburner.

But there’s a moment when you need to set your data online as fast as possible or get a map done for an urgent project.

While setting up my first data lab a few years ago, I started following a few companies which make data viz and mapping easier.

For these companies, communicating science using advanced analytic and visualization tools has become an effective way to transcend traditional paid mapping software. When dealing with ecological issues you need to redirect resources, and available API’s is all you need.

Vizzuality

Been following Vizzuality for quite some time now. This is because it’s 100% dedicated to conservation, the environment and sustainable development. Their web-GIS applications are willing helpful and cut down detailed.
