Introduction

In the past 3 years of my career, I’ve picked up useful data analysis skills which I’ve used to land a entry-/mid level data analytics consulting job at one of the biggest consulting companies in the the industry.

With this article, I hope to give a useful overview of what interviewing for such roles can involve from a preparation perspective, which means giving a flavor for both the theoretical aspect of data science as well as the experience-based angle such interviews aim to verify to make sure the interview is a good predictor of on-the-job success.

The interesting aspect about this interview was the heavy focus on theoretical knowledge (vs programming quizzes or brain teasers) as well as the genuine interest around my past experiences, which the interviewer used both to get to know my background a bit better as well as test my presentation skills.

Below are quick facts about the interview. Let’s dive in!

Setting: Phone Interview
