I will share with you the short biographies of my favourite 5 software engineers. Please note that there might be lots of other great software engineers. These 5 are the top among the ones I know. If you have a list for yourself, you can share it in the comments. Enjoy.

1. Jeff Dean

Jeff Dean is my 1st favourite software engineer. He graduated from the University of Minnesota summa cum laude and got his master's and PhD degrees from the University of Washington. Although he worked on compilers in his PhD degree, he’s doing everything but compilers nowadays.

After graduation, Jeff Dean joined Google as a software engineer. He’s still working there. But the most impressive thing about him is not his loyalty. In Google, there are levels for software developers from L3 to L10. L10 is the maximum and Jeff Dean was one of the best L10s. Generally, after L10, people can be a part of the management staff. However, Jeff Dean enjoyed his software development job and rejected the offer to become a manager. Because of that, Google created a new level, L11 for such developers (there are several of them) and Jeff Dean is one of the best L11 developers.
