A Single Tweet From a Troller…

We often forget how others could impact you if they have the dedication to do so…

Today I shall talk about a major incident which took place in Twitter, which potentially reached to Elon Musk, leading him to pause the useless features he had given.

If you go to one of my previous articles where I explained why Elon Musk’s decision to make Twitter verification a paid subscription was a bad one, you’ll see that there were some people defending Elon Musk for even that and saying that Elon Musk is the superhuman and he has a plan which non of us would know, and hence, I should shut up… Well… Here we go…

The decision made by him lead to 23% EXTRA successful scams in Twitter(of course, the stats here is not exact). For those of you away from this news, you could literally buy verification marks from Twitter now, and the amount of damage this has caused to the world as an online community is unforgivable.

The decision was so opposing, that Elon had to pause the verification subscription thing now(at the time of writing this)

Nintendo’s Reputation

This proved that you don’t have to be a superhuman to know that the decision taken by Elon, is crap.

Some random guy in the internet whose identity is completely unknown and can never be known, created a fake account of Nintendo America, bought the verification mark and sent this Tweet. It’s Mario(the Nintendo Guy) showing his precious finger.

This lead Nintendo’s value in market graph to drop slightly and drain some of it’s trusted friends(other companies) temporarily. Of course, this was a short term thing, and everything went back to normal when companies realized this is fake, so it was only harmful to the company for a while. But it’s not the same for the next one.

Eli Lilly

It’s a major health medicine production company in United states and many other countries, and is known to keep VERY high prices to stuff like insulin and so on… So high, that many think that this is a scam. Personally, I don’t think it’s a scam, but I can see how they make more money than they deserve.

Just like Nintendo, another person came in, created a fake account of this company and Tweeted that the insulin medicine is now gonna be free. I mean… This might seem obvious to some on why this is not gonna happen and hence should be ignored. But this was not the case. The stock market of Eli Lilly went from an impressive stage to less than 3% of what it was before, just from the tweets from other people trying to troll the companies. Do you think it ends there? NO

Lockheed Martin

For those of you don’t know about this, Lockheed Martin is a very popular weapons manufacturing company. Honestly even I did not know about this company until this incident.

As any of the other 2, a guy came in with a fake account and tweeted this.

Which lead to about 5% decrease in their stock in just one day, and it does not seem that this is gonna go up anytime soon. Of course, these accounts were seen as the fake ones by the company, but people did not. In fact people either viewed it as a fake account which is trying to dip down the graph, or a legit account, both of which results in dip of stock.

Concluding

I just don’t want to drag this long, but I personally think that Twitter has had it’s best days. It’s all downstream now, and Elon is just not doing any good to it. I just wanted the older Twitter, where it was still filled with negativity, but no confusion on what is going on with this blue bird.

You’re Awesome :)
