Facebook, Twitter, and other social media sites have been accused of spreading fake news by human journalists. Artificial intelligence (AI) has now learned how to generate fake news, and it's more dangerous than ever before.

The AI technology used by the New York Times and Washington Post was trained on a database of accurate articles — and then tricked into thinking they were reading through an article about a celebrity breakup.

After learning how to write convincing stories, the AI could produce indistinguishable reports from what humans would create. They were also able to make realistic-looking graphs and charts.

This means that we could soon be living in a world where algorithms control what we see online. The AI would be free to create any scenario it wants, which could be detrimental to society in many ways.
