The iPad Pro (2022) with M2 is here after a long wait! Apple today unveiled the next generation of Apple’s best tablet via a press release, which has improved in several ways. So let’s look at the news together and see what Apple has pulled off this time. The new iPad Pro with the M2 chip has a lot to offer.

Connectivity

In addition, the iPad Pro (2022) with the M2 chip supports the new Wi-Fi 6E standard, designed to provide the user with a lightning-fast and stable wireless Internet connection. According to the official specifications, the tablet is thus capable of download speeds of up to 2.4 Gbps, double the previous generation's capabilities.

In addition, Wi-Fi + Cellular models that support eSIM now support multiple 5G networks across the globe. This is Apple’s way of providing Apple customers with a stable, high-quality internet connection no matter where they are.

Performance

Of course, the main attention of the new iPad Pro is its chipset. Apple has bet on the M2 chip from the Apple Silicon family, which also runs in the MacBook Air (2022) and the 13″ MacBook Pro (2022), which makes one clear. It will lend uncompromising performance to the tablet. Specifically, it offers an 8-core CPU up to 15% faster than the M1 and a 10-core GPU that improves by a staggering 35%.

The 16-core Neural Engine also plays an important role. It can perform 15.8 trillion operations per second, which puts it a whopping 40% ahead of the older M1 chip. We also have to mention the 50% improvement in throughput of up to 100 GB/s and support for up to 16 GB of unified memory.

The new iPad Pro (2022) is a performance beast that can handle almost anything. But let’s leave the operating system limitations aside for now. As Apple states, thanks to the great performance, users can enjoy a much faster system and individual operations.

In addition, the M2 chip brings the important Media Engine and Image Signal Processor (ISP) coprocessors, which, in conjunction with advanced cameras, allow ProRes video to be recorded and transcoded up to 3x faster.

Other new features

Apple also addressed the Apple Pencil when it introduced the iPad Pro (2022). According to the official description, it will be possible to work much better with the Apple Pencil (2nd generation), as the iPad detects it at a distance of only 12 mm from the display, which will bring with it a rather crucial advantage — Apple users will see a preview of the action without actually performing it yet.

This is a huge step forward that creatives, in particular, will appreciate. You can dive into sketching or illustrating to the fullest and be confident that you’ll be as accurate as possible. Third-party apps will also benefit from this advantage. But it’s possible that this Apple Pencil-related news is more likely related to iPadOS 16.

iPadOS 16, officially released to the public in the coming days, will bring several other significant new features. The most frequently highlighted new feature is the Stage Manager. This is a brand new system for multitasking, with which Apple users should be able to work with several applications simultaneously, even on an external display with up to 6K resolution. For Stage Manager, you’ll need an iPad with an Apple Silicon chip.
