ENOUGH With The PHP Hate

--

Most of your claims are outdated nonsense anyways!

It’s almost a comic tragedy that the people who insist on trying to use a language built for client-side code to perform server-side tasks; that has endless issues, bugs, and quirks; requiring so many workarounds people have built entire transpilers to try and fix the problems; one that we have spent decades bemoaning the shortcomings of; have the unmitigated gall to claim that PHP is a bad programming language.

For those of you slow on the uptake, I’m of course referring to JavaScript fanboys. People in glass houses folks! To that end I will be talking about JS almost as much as I am PHP here. What’s good for the goose…

And don’t get me wrong, I have my own laundry list of problems with PHP. It still has a lot of issues, and frankly a lot of things they’re doing in version 8 are a waste of time that doesn’t fix deeper rooted faults and fissures.

But a simple sad truth is nearly EVERY programming language when used for web-facing server-side coding is kind of a shit-show! More than enough places in all of them to find a place to stick in the knife and twist. Java, JavaScript, Python, Perl, C# and other .NET flavors, they all have places they are really strong, and places they make you go “What the fark were they even thinking?!?”
