The difficulties with hiring out your EV charge point to strangers.

It’s a divisive issue, for sure, putting your head above the trenches and inviting the rage snipers by writing literally anything about EVs these days — as you can easily see from any of the published articles that speak for, against, or even just try to be objective about electric vehicles in general.

Remember, dear reader, whatever side of the dividing line you’re on — spaces vs. tabs, vi vs. emacs/VSC, or VHS vs. Betamax, it’s tagged #humor for a reason!

I’ve covered previously the fundamental difficulties of just replacing cars with, well, more cars and how it detracts from investing in a proper, cheap, and ubiquitous public transport infrastructure, but from a climate perspective it’s probably a good move — if we can guarantee that the energy used to charge them comes from zero emission sources such as nuclear, or renewable sources such as geothermal, solar PV, or wind driven turbines.

So, if we put that aside, and the greenwashing propaganda, oh and charging electric buses (temporarily) with (sustainbly fuelled) diesel generators in Ireland, then we’re going to slowly have more EVs on the road so we must then focus on how they’re all going to be charged.
