Google brings BigQuery to Mexico
BigQuery is now available in the North America South Region
Google just announced that BigQuery is available in the Mexico (northamerica-south1) region[1].
What has long been a reality for Europeans and other nations is now also a reality for Mexicans. Companies based there can now provision the SaaS Data Warehouse and realize the data storage in Mexico within the Google Cloud.
Before they had to choose between other cloud data centers in the US, Canada or Latin America [2]:
This is of course a good step. Often, a data center within a certain country or region has to be used for data protection reasons alone. But of course, in addition to data protection, the whole thing is also an advantage in terms of reliability and latency.
Also keep in min that the Mexico, Montreal, and Osaka regions have three zones within one or two physical data centers. These regions are in the process of expanding to at least three physical data centers[2].
