Last week Google launched many new AI powered features in BigQuery — one of them Data Canvas, which let you query data with natural language[1].

You can now create a data canvas within BigQuery Studio. Data Canvas lets you discover, transform, query, and visualize data using natural language[1][2]. It is part of the integration of Gemini into BigQuery for more automated data analysis.

It provides users a graphic interface for your analysis that lets you work with data sources, queries, and visualizations in a directed acyclic graph (DAG), giving you a graphical view of your analysis workflow that maps to your mental model[2][3]. BigQuery Data Canvas is designed to help you with your data-to-insights journey and makes data analysis possible without technical knowledge of specific tools or products. According to Google BigQuery data canvas works with Dataplex metadata to identify appropriate tables based on natural language[3].
