Mathematics is the fundamental framework that underpins everything around us in our daily lives whether we’re walking on a windswept shore, shopping in the local supermarket, or being required to perform like dancing hamsters in the daily scrum of fluttering paper.

Don’t take any nonsense about this from your fellow scientists either as it’s widely accepted¹ that biology is just chemistry, that chemistry is just physics, and that physics (of course) is just mathematics.

Not to demean the other sciences at all (except economics as that’s just utterly fictional applied mathematics where equations are made to forcible fit real life happenings for cash, or debt) but mathematics, ultimately is your goto framework for absolutely everything in this life and whatever other lives there may possibly be.

This, naturally, is even more the case in computer science² where mathematics lies at the root (ahem), the very core, the absolute hub of everything. Everything is algorithmic, numerical, logical³, and deterministic in nature⁴ — given sufficient time⁵, patience, and computing power⁶.

That said, a somewhat profound thought occurred to me whilst suffering a particularly overly long agile related meeting (I can’t remember the original…
