Here’s how you can use MDN Web Docs offline
I am a web developer and sometimes I have to face poor and slow internet connection or sometimes no connection at all. Whenever I come across any technical difficulty or don’t understand a topic clearly I usually refer to Mozilla developer Network (MDN) for their documentation of HTML, CSS and JavaScript. It has been touted as one of the best free learning resource for both beginners and advanced web developers.
In this article I will show you how you can get the whole documentation provided by the Mozilla foundation offline.
Step 1
Go to pwa.kiwi.org and install it as a PWA (progressive web app).
If you are using chrome a popup will appear telling you to install this site as an app
If you are using Microsoft edge click the three dots menu option then select apps and then select install this site as an app.
Step 2
Now open the app and click on the setting icon and then elect open library
Step 3
Scroll down and select zimit.
Step 4
Now select the highlighted options. There are two versions of MDN one is old and the other one is the latest. Select whatever you like.
Step 5
Download links will appear. You have different options. Either go for the torrent links or choose direct downloads. I would recommend the direct download links as they are usually fast and in case if you don’t have a torrent downloader.
Step 6
After downloading the files go back to the app and click on that setting icon. Now choose Select storage and then Select file
Step 7
A popup will appear asking you to select that file you have just downloaded. In my case.
Step 8
Enjoy learning offline 😊.
Share it with your friends who can benefit from it.
Happy Developing…
