So if you are just begun your Linux journey then this is a good guide that will help you to be a power user in Linux even if you are just starting out.

1. Configure Your Key bindings

You should choose your mod key the super key aka the Windows key is the mod4 key for the computer.

You can also use alt key which is mod1 in computers, I personally use mod4 aka the super key.

After choosing your mod key.

You should use this mod key to open your terminal, browser and your text editor plus your file manager. This is the basics, you can add more if you want it to.

Use an application launchers like rofi or dmenu or an ulauncher if you don’t want to customise your launcher.

Then it’s creating key bindings for closing your windows and also one key binding for hiding your windows

2. Use terminal applications

You can use a music terminal application like CMUS for playing your music, feh or sxiv for viewing your images using the Command Line and there are also alternatives to these in Wayland, if you want to learn more about it, you can visit this site https://arewewaylandyet.com/ for getting alternatives to X11 packages.

Neovim is pretty cool text editor and for me almost par with VS code, as it's faster and uses less resources compared to Vs code.(Link to NeoVim).

3. Customise Your Environment

Yeah, this one is a bit cheesy as it does not serve any direct purpose, but it does in the long run as everything is the way how you want it to be. This makes you faster and efficient in your work flow.

4. Learn The Shortcuts

All your applications, desktop environments on Linux, Windows and macOS have their own set of keyboard shortcuts, learn and try to use them daily. If you are into audio production, create custom keyboard shortcuts or learn the default ones. This does imply to photo, text and video editors too .

The best way to learn keyboard shortcuts is to create a wallpaper for it, you can search online or use online editors like canva or photopea to create one. If you are looking to something FOSS try GIMP.

5. Everything Is An Experiment

It will take some time to get to know what you need and how you want those things to be, so don’t hurry.
