FIGHT!

In my previous article “Part Of Why I Think React Is Junk” I made a number of intentional omissions and card-stacked statements just to gauge audience reaction and drive engagement. Those of you who’ve read my article on propaganda may in fact recognize some of the techniques I used.

Also a likely contributor to it being the most popular article I’ve written in terms of traffic, claps, and replies.

Many of the responses to that article — both for and against — gave me a lot to think about. Over the past decade and a half whenever people have talked about the benefits of frameworks — on forums, mailing lists, social media, etc — I’ve genuinely had zero clue what people were talking about. This disbelief was only further fueled by how in most cases the code used in examples were utter incompetent garbage, and how most of the time I asked or criticized these things the majority of replies amounted to nothing more than “wah wah, is not”.

Whilst there were a fair share of pointless poster magnet “me too” replies devoid of merit — again, both for and against — I was pleasantly surprised by the replies that had some actual meat to them; particularly from the opposition. Some of you made legitimate points and I’d like to address them.
