It All Started With the iPhone

Not that long ago all I needed a phone for was calls, texts, checking the odd email and using Google Maps. That was pretty much it. Times move on, and I began to use my old Android phone to watch the odd Netflix film, catch up with the news, and add calendar entries. Still pretty basic and mundane stuff, though.

Then I got myself an iPhone 12 and things started to change. Rapidly. It’s not that Android phones weren’t capable of carrying out the extra tasks I was now starting to do. The iPhone made them much simpler and obvious, due in no small part to the excellent variety of apps available in the App Store.

Still, it was just a phone, right?

The M1 MacBook Air changed everything

Before purchasing the remarkable M1 MacBook Air, I had a Pixelbook Go. This was my daily driver and a great little, lightweight and portable device. Chrome OS has its limitations but for my needs, it served me well. That is, until I wanted to do more. More than a browser-based operating system could provide. I had started to blog online, and the writing apps available for Chromebooks just didn’t quite cut the mustard. Sure, you can write on them (Google Docs is still a splendid word processor) but they lack the key…
