When Bill Gates made his remarks at Davos on Friday, he was not just making a statement about how to lead the world into a new digital era, and he was also setting the stage for one of the great meetings in the history of humanity.
It would be impossible to ignore what he said. With each passing year, we are seeing more evidence that this is the year when the world catches up with Bezos and his company, Amazon.com.
If you think back to last year's first session of Davos, which companies showed up? How about seven years ago?
- The answer is no one — not even Google or Facebook. Both companies were latecomers compared to Bezos' virtual retailer and its peers.
It would appear that Bezos has caught up with the rest of us in establishing a more collaborative and inclusive business culture that focuses on employee success above all else.
