This is part of a series on:

The Purpose of Charts are to Answer Questions we NEVER knew we had…

  • Pre-attentive attributes are visual elements processed quickly by our brain before conscious attention is required.

For Example:

  • A story is created through a sequence of visual summaries.
  • You can retrace the story to rethink, explore further, and share findings.
  • Humans have limitations in processing complex information, like mental math or lengthy text.
  • We are very efficient at recognizing differences in visual characteristics like length, position, and color.
look at how quickly your brain spots these differences without me having to tell you!!!
