Even though Data Scientists are currently in great demand and many have this career aspiration, it is the Data Engineer who make the data available for analysis purposes in the first place. But are they paid fairly?

How to become a Data Engineer

In the meantime, there are many courses with which you can become a Data Engineer. Professionals from the fields of Informatics, Computer Technology or Statistics can work as Data Engineers. For an optimal start, there are further training courses that prepare students for the fields of Business Intelligence, Databases, ETL or Data Science, among others. The study program Data Engineer is still a rarity, but this is not surprising, because as a Data Engineer you usually take over other tasks from the field of Data Analytics, IT Architecture and others. A generalist education is therefore helpful here.

How much does a Data Engineer earn?

Well it depends…. In Germany for example you will get about 59.300€ round about 68.000$ [1]. From my own experience, I know that this is quite a lot in Germany.
