I recently wrote an uncommon data science job guide, which was well received, so I’m following it up with this uncommon guide for another growing industry: No-code.

The Problem With Most Job Advice

Intuitively, we all know that most common job advice is wrong. Things like “apply through {job portal}” can’t be it, right? According to LinkedIn’s own statistics, there are over 50 times more members than jobs on LinkedIn.

LinkedIn statistics, as of writing.

Moreover, the average person applies for around 150 jobs. If even just one percent of LinkedIn members sends that many applications, that’s a ridiculous 1.8 billion applications. It may not be that bad, but head to any job portal and you’ll quickly see that many postings have hundreds (or even thousands) of applicants. Well, maybe it is that bad…

After a few seconds of scrolling, I found this CVS position that got over 1,000 applications in just a week.
