Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is currently the 3rd richest person in the world. No wonder many people are interested in what habits this man has and how he manages his time. As Bezos revealed at an event in Washington, he uses three key strategies to maximize his productivity, which may be surprising to some. Here they are:

Lots of sleep

Various studies have shown that getting enough quality sleep brings many benefits. It allows us to think more clearly, remember information or make faster decisions. If we don’t get enough sleep, several abilities that we need at work or in other areas of our lives will be significantly weakened. Concentration and ability to learn decrease, memory deteriorates and moodiness increases.
Jeff Bezos is well aware of the need for sleep. He goes to bed early and always makes sure he gets at least 8 hours of sleep. “I think it’s better. I have more energy and my mood is better,” Bezos said.

Just a few decisions a day

As CEO, Bezos claims that his main task is to make only a small number of high-quality decisions. “If I make three good decisions a day, that’s enough,” says the billionaire. As he adds, he always tries to make these decisions as high-quality as possible.
It does not mean that he takes decisions slowly. As he wrote in a letter to shareholders in 2017, he believes that for a dynamic and energetic company, quality decisions should be made at high speed.

No appointments before 10am

Unlike other executive managers, Jeff Bezos dedicates his mornings to himself and his loved ones. He reads the newspaper with a good cup of coffee and enjoys breakfast with his children. It might be a waste of time for some, but it’s how Amazon’s CEO prepares for his day.
Laura Vanderkam also writes for Fast Company that too many morning meetings have an opportunity cost, because this time could be used much more productively. Bezos is known for scheduling meetings between 10 a.m. and the end of lunch.
