Trapped In A System Built By Madmen
You can check out any time, but you can never delete.
The primordial software product. The ancient soup from which we all ultimately emerged. The pre-slop, slop. Just a twinkle in a prospective founder’s eye — as they really don’t want to work for anyone else because, hey, they’re above all that sort of thing.
Six months “web” coding, a bit of Visual Basic, a weekend online course, and a spell as a “technical” manager (details, naturally, summarised without naming names in their LinkedIn profile) and your average founder, and they’re very average, at best, is good to be put in charge of more or less everything in a fledgling company.
I mean, what could go wrong, right?
At least in the old days, pre-AI slop in the editor, you had to at least look like you knew what you were doing — in person — but now you can pull the wool over everyone’s eyes without even meeting them. You don’t even have to use your own face in Teams anymore, you can fake that too.
Anyway, let’s not digress. Where were we again? Oh, yes.
Do Not pass Go.
Do Not actually do any real work in the Grand Game to get actual experience.
Especially Do Not listen to anyone who says that someone else has already done everything you’ve got in your business plan, and they’ve already gone to market…
