What I Want to See in the 2022 MacBook Air Lineup
What Apple needs to do to tempt me to part with my cash
The rumour mill is out in force regarding the 2022 itineration of the cheapest Apple laptop you can buy, the MacBook Air. Will it/won’t it sport a new M2 SoC. Will it lose its iconic tapered styling? How about a new colour scheme, including white bezels?
The truth is, nobody outside of Apple’s inner circle really knows. Still, there’s a lot of fun to be had in guessing what comes next. Here’s what I’d like to see Apple do if they want me to upgrade from the fantastic M1 MacBook Air.
Don’t listen to the missus, size does matter
There are rumours of a whopping 15” MBA coming later in the year. I can definitely see a use case for this device. What I’d also like to see is a 12” device (a return of the MacBook without a suffix, if you like). A truly portable laptop with a new M2 chip would be a thing of beauty and function. A 12” model would be an asset to those who work on the fly in coffee shops and boardrooms. A reduction in bezel size would give similar screen real estate to the current M1 MBA form whilst providing a much more lightweight, portable, and bag friendly device.
