Data Scientists are in demand on the market but in order to be successful and earn a lot of money on the market, a skill should not be underestimated: Domain Expertise.

Data Science is not an end in itself, but a discipline that seeks to answer questions from other disciplines with data. For example, Business economists need Data Scientists to analyze financial transactions, customer behavior or supplier situations. Engineers need data science, for example, to improve harvests or to increase efficiency in wind power. However, to be successful in these areas, the Data Scientist must have the fundamental understanding from the field.

A great illustration is the knowledge stack of a Data Scientist. Of course, they need technological skills and knowledge, but the domain expertise stands above all.
