Why the new Macs Are a Scarce Commodity

You will have to wait until mid-June for Mac Studio and until the end of July for its higher configuration. 14-inch and 16-inch MacBooks are not shipping until late July and early August. That is regardless of the design you choose. Even MacBook Airs do not ship from Apple is Online Store until mid-June. The only devices you can have right away are the 13" MacBook Pro, Mac mini, and 24" iMac.

Apple recently reported record revenue of $97.3 billion for the second fiscal quarter of 2022 and mentioned that supply chain issues could cost it $4–8 billion next quarter. Since then, there have been regular reports of production shutdowns, particularly in China. Covid has undoubtedly not yet had the last word, and so it is still closing various factories, quarantining employees, and shutting down production lines.

This, plus the Russia-Ukraine conflict, increases the pressure on both sides. Supply is constrained by production and logistical problems, while demand is affected by the conflict and the ongoing lockdowns due to COVID-19. Shortages are being reported throughout Apple is distribution chain, particularly around Macs. Macworld said that only three versions of Macs are immediately available in the U.S. — all older M1 models, 13-inch MacBook Pro, Mac mini, and iMac 24, which illustrates the current situation. The delivery for other products is delayed…
