The new Windows 11

The promise of ‘bringing me closer to what I love’ has not exactly been kept by Microsoft with the new Windows 11. The new operating system has its fans, but it has not gone down well with a majority of users, and Microsoft is fumbling.

Giving credit where it’s due though, Microsoft has been hard at work fixing major bugs these last few months and as I write this, the first major update (KB5010414) has started hitting Windows 11 devices including mine this week. Although it does address a few of my concerns, the road ahead for Microsoft is a long one.

The Good

  • New File Explorer Icons!
    Windows 11 is more of a design overhaul of the extremely popular Windows 10 than a functional update, and this is most visible in the new File Explorer icons. Refreshing stuff.

  • Open windows now have rounded corners
    Did I mention that W11 was a design change? Yup, another one of ‘em.
  • Windows Search is still just as fast and efficient
    Sometimes it is best not to tinker with what’s already perfect. Windows Search in the start menu can still find your documents, search through your settings, find info on the internet or…
