Tate Britain’s “Sensorium” exhibition utilizes all senses to experience art

As digital art practices expand and artists create more multi-sensory art, the museums and spaces around us are filling up with experiential ways to engage with art. On Codex, we want to reflect those changes to make Codex Records as dynamic as the art we interact with offline

Codex Records are secure, non-fungible tokens that represent physical or digital items and store provenance information regarding the item’s history and identity. Thousands of Codex Records are currently used to store provenance and represent the digital identity of physical items, registered on the blockchain (the Codex Registry). But Codex Records have swiftly become an asset to digital artists who use the Records to register their works onto the blockchain for provable scarcity and authenticity. Records have evolved from being a way to store provenance of art and collectibles to the digital artworks themselves.

We recognized how quickly the incredible digital artists in our community were utilizing Codex Records to create dynamic digital art and that we needed to add additional capabilities to the Records. Art is no longer just pigment on paper; museums, galleries and public spaces are now filled with multi-sensory experiential art. And if a Codex Record is an artwork’s blockchain counterpart, then that same experience needs to be replicated online. Technical capabilities shouldn’t limit an artist’s creativity, so we added 70 file types that can be uploaded to a Codex Record.

We want to make sure that artists are leveraging Codex as best they can and are not missing out any functionality, and because we receive so many questions and requests for adding video, audio and more to Codex Records (most of which are already compatible) below is a full list to reference of all of the file types that can be uploaded to a Codex Record.

About Codex

Codex is the leading decentralized asset registry for the $2 trillion arts & collectibles (“A&C”) ecosystem, which includes art, fine wine, collectible cars, antiques, decorative arts, coins, watches, jewelry, and more. Powered by the CodexCoin native token, the Codex Protocol is open source, allowing third-party players in the A&C ecosystem to build applications and utilize the title system. Codex’s landmark application, Biddable, is a title-escrow system built on the Codex Protocol, which solves long-standing challenges in auctions: non-performing bidders, lack of privacy and bidder access. The Codex Protocol and CodexCoin will be adopted as the only cryptocurrency by The Codex Consortium, a group of major stakeholders in the A&C space who facilitate over $6 Billion in sales to millions of bidders across tens of thousands of auctions from 5,000 auction houses in over 50 countries.
